Betrayal trauma isn’t just heartbreak. It’s waking up and realizing your entire reality was curated to keep you in the dark. The damage isn’t just in what they did but what they let you believe while doing it. #celebrityPsychology #RelationshipPsychology #LoveIsland #LoveislandUSA #janacraig #janaandkenny #greenscreen

This video from Niki Demar is so good. A very honest one too considering her many years as an influencer and content creator.

“Little treat culture” and romanticizing your life, I do believe can take a toll on you as it can feel like you’re performing or obligated to perform versus being in the moment, while simulataneously acknowledging that you’re just trying to have the best day ever.

From my end, I feel that all of this romanticization started out as a response, a rebellion, against, to put it lightly, extremely trying times and wanting to remind ourselves to touch grass, smell the roses, and to let the sun spend some time with us on our skin. And. dammit, to buy the damn shoes or bag. Instead of giving into the neverending rat race and only working to pay the bills.

But then romanticizing our lives became a rat race in its own way. It’s bad enough we often treat our social media accounts as highlight reels-only (which I can’t be mad at. Hating lurkers love to LURK. Might as well give them show, amirite?) But it can feel inauthentic at times too. Like, one’s life isn’t always happy and fabulous.

On other hand, I sometimes like when my socials remind me of events I’ve been to and food I’ve eaten. Or, I look back at my own content. Like, wow! I have made efforts to live a full life!

But it’s also okay to slow down too which my mother reminded me of recently. And to also not post everything. If anything, not in real-time. Though that can be fun too.

After posting this, I’ll likely get another summer special themed latte to post later on, as my little treat tendency is still very much active. But shout out to Niki for keeping herself and her viewers in check in that we’re allowed to just be. With or without recording it all or it being luxe, limited edition or of the crowd.
