I finally made it to Africa!!! After much hope and talks of it, I made my first trip to Africa, by visiting the country of Morocco, this spring.

We were there for about ten days, including a stop in Casablanca, but I’m going to skip the ABSOLUTE NONSENSE that occurred when it came to our departure flights to Marrakech (or is it Marrakesh?) because OMIGOD it was a disaster!!!

We nearly didn’t get to leave on our scheduled date and time (and one of us did have to wait until the following day). So for the girly pops and gays, maybe I’ll save it for a podcast episode and share in further detail. Whew.

So on to the fun parts! I was the first to arrive and I had to gather not just my suitcase, but two other suitcases as well from baggage claim! (Oh. Midway through our layover segment of the flight, the other two had hell getting their boarding passes, thus, making me the first to arrive. When I tell you, NONSENSE!)

I was thankful that our suitcases appeared quickly on the revolver belt. And I had one more round of security and a woman was so kind to help with the suitcases! (I thought the Menara Airport was also pretty easy to navigate).

Once at the riad, which is often recommended for tourists and visitors when staying in Marrakech (though there are hotels!) I finally had a moment to take in the fact that I had arrived! It was wild while on the car ride to the riad seeing the city live from my window seat.

Our riad came with an on-call housekeeper and we were able to schedule dinner for our arrivals after an extremely stressful day and the meal was delicious! It was classic Moroccan fare and I couldn’t have been happier to eat it after the diabolical hula hoops we went through with the flights.

From jump, I was determined to attend all the excursions we had planned even with the near delay of the our flights (and as the week went as natural exhaustion kicked in).

The first official excursion was going to the Jardin Marjorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Exciting!

And now, I’ve visited both YSL Museums in Paris, France and Marrakech, Morocco. ❤

Majorelle Garden
Monument to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge
The Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech
The iconic Love posters! I also saw these at Le Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris.
I found strawberry matcha too! At Simple Speciality Coffee in the medina!
Moroccan ramen noodles

Stay tuned for more photo diaries!
