This episode of MTV’s late ’90s music docu/Q&A series, Ultrasound, aired in 1998 and featured rap and R&B icons of their day Mary J. Blige, Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, Missy Elliott and Foxy Brown. All the ladies are still iconic today, but they were certainly in their prime here and it was a really cool candid, sit-down of what it’s like to be a woman in the spotlight, as well as some girl talk on love, heartbreak, independence.

Towards the end, Missy mentions Michael Jackson as one of her faves, and she comments on how in general, music, at that time, didn’t give her the same feeling. It’s crazy how in the seventeen years since 1998, #90schildren of today say the same thing about the radio or a majority of the songs on Billboard’s Top 40 in 2015.
