This animated film is a secret gem of Disney’s vault. While not in the same lane of classics like Snow White and the original 101 Dalmatians, A Goofy Movie was a ’90s take on one of the founding characters of Walt Disney and his attempts to rebuild his relationship with his son Maxamillion. It was a silver screen extension of the popular cartoon Goof Troop, and the voice of Powerline, the teen idols of Max and his classmates, was sung by the vocally calm R&S singer Tevin Campbell who, then at the age of 16, was a protege of Babyface for his 1993 self-titled album.
A Goofy Movie was released in 1995, and the Powerline sequences remain favorites of ’90s kids who saw the film.
Let’s go back to ’95 and sing along if you know the words to “Stand Out” and Eye to Eye (“stylized as “I 2 I” on the soundtrack) from Powerline, voiced by Campbell.
