Powerhouse streetwear brand Supreme is going to drop their latest batch of products for Spring/Summer 2016 tomorrow. One of their newest additions, or remixes, of classic Americana or pop culture is going to include this time…Betty Boop!
The iconic comic character will be featured in five items. The most epic one being the baby blue satin jacket with Betty imitating Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch (or was it Monroe channelling Boop?)
Boop x Supreme, along with others for S/S 16 will be exclusively sold in Supreme flagships across New York, Los Angeles, and London, then Japan available on February 20. No word yet if the drops will be available for purchase online…
Last week, the New York Daily News published a true story about how Boop was created. She was based on real-life Harlem-based singer Ester Jones. Boop was drawn and has been depicted since the 1930s as a White woman, but it was a Black woman all along that inspired one of the most lovable women ever. #TheMoreYouKnow
