Officially set to premiere in Versace stores (and online), October 16 is the date for M.I.A.’s collaboration with Versace. Confirmed by the artist, and creative director Donatella, the collection will be based upon past counterfeits of the fashion house’s designs. In M.I.A. socially conscious fashion, on her own she came up with the idea of remixing those pieces into “Bootleg Versace” which she first revealed would happen last year, and furthermore at a lecture of hers at the MoMA Ps.1 museum in Queens, NY.
It will be a part of Versace’s sub-line Versus and will contain 19 pieces for men and women. Per Woman’s Wear Daily, M.I.A. told a reporter:
Versace’s designs have always been copied, now it’s Versace that copies the copies, so those that copy must copy the copies. So this will continue.”
If you thought that statement was confusing, only imagine the apparel (which will likely be incredibly awesome and collector items). Hopefully the price points won’t be too crazy! If you can snag an item, pick one that you really want.
Two images so far have been released and three Instagram videos. M.I.A. has been a favorite of Versace’s for some time now, having sat front row during showings at Milan Fashion Week, and she also took a photo with Donatella for a Harper’s Bazaar feature of selected artists and fashion designers.

It’s been roughly three and half years since supermodel Kate Moss did her last exclusive Topshop capsule collection, which was supposed to be her last, but she announced today that she’s coming back to the Sir Phillip Green’s house of high street fashion. For spring 2014, another Kate Moss x Topshop will be released. There currently four flagships in the U.S.: in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood; Chicago, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
And while it’s ridiculous you can’t even buy Rita Ora’s music in America (not even iTunes), she continues her reign as a budding fashionable maven on American soil, and she’s scored two campaigns for similarly styled and price-pointed labels Madonna and daughter Lordes’ Material Girl and Donna Karan’s DKNY.
She walked in the finale for DKNY’s 25th anniversary fashion show this past New York Fashion Week, and her ad was photographed in iconic Times Square. For Material Girl, her ads were shot in her origins of Londontown. Ora is definitely making it rain when it comes to getting those spokesmodel checks. #GirlsGetYourMoney
